We will be joined by Katie Freeman, Vice President of Partnerships and External Relations for Liberty Dogs

Katie will provide a background and overview of Liberty Dogs’ mission and approach to training and placing Service Dogs with U.S. Veterans. She’ll also share the many ways the community can get involved through volunteer opportunities and help expand the organization’s impact.

Katie Freeman serves as Vice President of Partnerships and External Relations for Liberty Dogs, where she leads the organization’s partnership strategy, community outreach, external engagement, and volunteer initiatives. In this role, she builds and strengthens relationships with public agencies, businesses, universities, Veteran and community organizations, and other strategic partners to expand Liberty Dogs’ reach, resources, and impact.

With more than a decade of experience in communications, marketing, partnerships, and external affairs, largely within the nonprofit sector, Katie is a results-driven leader known for turning strategy into meaningful, measurable impact. Her background spans nonprofit leadership, economic development, media, and corporate marketing, with expertise in strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, brand strategy, public relations, and mission-driven growth. She brings a collaborative, data-informed approach to building programs, cultivating relationships, and aligning external opportunities with organizational priorities.

Previously, Katie served as Director of Marketing, Communications, and External Affairs at the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, where she led multidisciplinary teams, supported membership and capital campaigns, managed public relations and crisis communications, and cultivated relationships with policymakers, judicial leaders, and national partners. Earlier in her career at the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, she helped attract major business investment to the Reno–Tahoe region. She also worked for the USA Today Network, where she drove revenue growth across multimillion-dollar portfolios.

Katie is greatly motivated by work that strengthens communities and creates lasting impact through collaboration and service. She considers the opportunity to help advance the mission of Liberty Dogs and its service to Veterans the greatest honor of her career thus far.
