The 81st Session of the

Nevada Legislature

with

Gina Bongiovi & Erin McMullen

Join us on June 8, 2021, at the Lied Discovery Children's Museum, where Gina Bongiovi, Managing Partner of Bongiovi Law Firm, and Erin McMullen, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Boyd Gaming, will be giving us an update on the legislative session and a summary of important issues.

In 2005, Gina started a marketing company and, in need of legal advice, couldn't find a lawyer that was willing or able to help a startup like hers. After hearing similar stories from other entrepreneurs, she decided to dedicate her practice to serving startups and small businesses. Over the last twelve years, Bongiovi Law Firm has grown with its clients to serve businesses of all sizes.  Its attorneys pair business education with real-world experience to provide clients with business-minded legal advice that addresses all facets of business ownership.

Gina has helped found several nonprofits – Dress for Success Southern Nevada, Vegas Shepherd Rescue, Working K9 Rescue, School Guardian Project – and is working on others.  She also served on the UNLV Alumni Association Board, as chair of Vegas Young Professionals Advisory Council and currently serves on the Small Business Development Center Board, Dean's Advisory Boards for the Lee Business School and UNLV Honors College, and is the 2021 Chair of the Vegas Chamber Board of Trustees. In addition, she's volunteered her time supporting a number of organizations that play major roles in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. She works diligently to establish and nurture connections among different organizations to reduce duplication and to amplify resources.

She's been honored as a Woman of Distinction by NAWBO, recognized as a Rising Star of Business by Las Vegas Business Press, listed among the Legal Elite for seven years running, awarded the International Women's Forum Carolyn Sparks Founder's Award, and has been honored twice as Alumna of the Year - once by the UNLV MBA program and, in 2020, by the entire Lee Business School.

As an attorney specializing in government affairs, Erin brings a strong political background and several years of experience to Boyd Gaming’s government affairs team.  She is responsible for the state and local policy that impacts the company in Nevada, California and Hawaii. She has lobbied full time at the Nevada legislature since 2005, in 9 regular sessions and 11 special sessions, and has developed a sophisticated understanding of the political process at both the state and local level.

Prior to joining Boyd Gaming, Erin was the Director of Government and Public Affairs for R&R Partners in Las Vegas. Before her time at R&R, Erin served as an associate attorney with the government affairs group of Snell & Wilmer, L.L.P. in Las Vegas. She also worked as legislative correspondent for U.S. Senator Harry Reid in his Washington, D.C., office.

Erin is a proud fifth-generation Nevadan who earned her B.S. in linguistics from Georgetown University in 2003, and her J.D. from California Western School of Law in 2008.  She is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and the American Bar Association, and a City-Council appointed member of the Henderson Charter Review Committee.  She currently serves on the Board of the Guinn Center for Policy Priorities and the R&R Partners Foundation Board, and is a member of both the Nevada Resort Association and Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committees.   Erin has provided pro bono lobbying and advocacy services to a variety of organizations, including Communities in Schools, Nevada, Nevada Humanities and Three Square Food Bank.  Erin was recently named one of Vegas Inc.’s 40 under Forty honorees for 2021 and is an adjunct professor at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law teaching advanced advocacy and legislative policy.  She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Eric Midby, who is also a native Nevadan.
