Zelalem Bogale, Esq.
Deputy General Counsel, Nevada System of Higher Education
Zelalem Bogale is the Deputy General Counsel at the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno where he teaches Race, Law, and Criminal Justice.
He staffs the Cultural Diversity Committee of the Nevada Board of Regents and sits on NSHE’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council. He is licensed to practice law in Nevada and California.
Prior to joining NSHE, he served as a Deputy District Attorney for over five years where he prosecuted criminal cases ranging from white-collar offenses to murder. Before that, he served as a judicial law clerk at the Supreme Court of Nevada and worked in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice during the Obama Administration.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Reno and his law degree from California Western School of Law where he served as President of the Black Law Students Association. He currently serves on U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen’s African American Advisory Council. He lives in Reno with his wife and two children.
