Don't Miss this Amazing Opportunity
to experience how UNR is Amplfying
the Role of the Arts in
Northern Nevada!

The University Arts Building
Made its debut with a grand-opening ceremony Friday, Feb. 22.

The three-story facility features a 287-seat recital hall, museum of art, fabrication lab, electroacoustic composition lab, soundproof rehearsal spaces, and music practice rooms.

By promoting and cultivating visual and performing arts, the University will strengthen its leadership role in arts education in northern Nevada and continue to showcase top student and professional performances and exhibitions in music, theater, dance and visual art. The new building will further the University’s connection to the Reno community and create a model of cooperation that also will positively affect the region’s economy.

Our host, Patricia Richards, holds a dual role as President Johnson’s Chief of Staff and the University’s Chief Diversity Officer. As Chief of Staff, she serves as an adviser to the President, manages his activities and priorities, and connects the President and University to major constituents inside and outside the University. She teams with the President to ensure regular contact with prospective investors in the University and works with him and the Vice President for Development to layout appropriate goals and strategies for these investors. She works with others to prepare the President for speeches and other public functions and messaging opportunities, directs special projects, and ensures that the President’s office functions effectively. She also acts as a point of contact for dignitaries and political campaigns on campus. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Master of Arts in Communication. She has been at the University since 1996 and in addition to serving as Chief of Staff, has also served as Chief Diversity Officer, Director of Marketing, Director of University Events, and Assistant Director for Alumni Relations.
