Bio
Erika Pope has more than two decades of experience in communications, marketing and journalism. During the creation of the renowned “What Happens Here, Stays Here” Las Vegas branding campaign, she managed publicity for leisure, groups and incentive travel for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
After eight years at the LVCVA, she left to start her own communications consultancy, Candid Communications, where clients included Conde Nast, Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. In addition to corporate communications, promotional public relations, community relations and crisis communications, Erika’s career has encompassed freelance writing for local, regional and national media outlets on topics as diverse as tourism, fine art and motherhood. Prior to beginning her career, Erika earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, respectively.
Passionate about her adopted hometown of Las Vegas, Erika has served as a CASA volunteer for foster children for 24 years. She currently serves as co-chair of the youth suicide prevention nonprofit Hope Means Nevada, on the gala committee for Communities In Schools, as a member of the Young Men’s Service League where she serves alongside one of her sons, and on the collections committee for The Neon Museum. She resides with her husband and three children in northwest Las Vegas near her beloved Lone Mountain hiking trail, where she can be found traipsing about nearly every morning of the year.
