Sarah J. McCrea is a Deputy Fire Chief with the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue. In addition to being a registered Nurse and Paramedic, she also held the position of Assistant Fire Chief prior to being promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in 2020. In her role of Assistant Fire Chief, Sarah was responsible for LVFR’s Special Operations and Employee Health and Wellness Programs as well as the Combined Communications Center, where she is the program manager for the Emergency Communications Nurse System.

Sarah has also served as the EMS quality improvement coordinator for Las Vegas Fire and Rescue (LVFR).

Hired by LVFR in 1998, she has served in various roles throughout her career, including firefighter, paramedic, engineer, technical rescue technician and EMS instructor. In fall 2013 she started the Las Vegas Community Health Improvement Program (CHIPs), which partners the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Social Work with LVFR firefighters to identify more appropriate resources for the needs of the community, addressing the untoward health effects of unmet social needs and 9-1-1 misuse. In spring 2015, Sarah was an integral member of the work group that successfully passed state legislation for the future of community paramedicine services in Nevada.
