Bio
Anita is Senior Vice President/Staff Operations and Technology of Southwest Gas Corporation, providing vision and leadership for developing and implementing technology and operations support.
In her position, Anita is focused on technology strategies that support Company objectives. She leads her organization in defining the Company’s technology roadmap and oversees the acquisition and development of technology systems. Anita also leads the Engineering Staff operations function.
Anita joined Southwest in 1992 as Manager/Design and Standards. Throughout her 27 years with the Company, she has held positions of increased responsibility, including Vice President of both the Southern California and Southern Nevada Divisions, as well as Vice President/Special Projects and Information Services. Anita was promoted to Senior Vice President/Staff Operations and Technology in 2013.
She graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico, and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is also a graduate of the Wharton Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
Anita has received numerous awards, including “Manager of the Year” by Gas Utility Manager Magazine; 2015 Women to Watch Award from Vegas Inc., and from the American Gas Association, an “Award of Merit”, a “Silver Award of Merit”, a “Gold Award of Merit”, and a “Platinum Award of Merit”. She is a member of the American Gas Association, Western Energy Institute, National Society of Professional Engineers, Las Vegas Executives Association and the Nevada International Women’s Forum. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for Three Square Food Bank.
